Held last week (13th July) at the Royal Jersey Golf Club, the day welcomed 24 corporate teams who took part in an 18-hole team Stableford competition.

Participants helped raise the £30,000 total, a record level of fundraising for the event – including £1,000 from the Baker Tilly team after one its members, Peter Whitsey, achieved a hole in one on the fourth hole.

Funds raised through the Golf Day are ringfenced to support medical research at the Cancer Research UK Southampton Clinical Trials unit, which is connected to Southampton Hospital where many islanders are treated for cancer.

Richard Hughes, CEO of Brooks Macdonald International, and Chair of the Jersey branch of Cancer Research UK, commented:
“We were overwhelmed by the support of colleagues, clients and industry peers that came together through our Golf Day this year, to raise an incredible record amount of money that will directly support critical life-saving research. I am also very grateful to Professor Gareth Griffiths who joined us from the CRUK-funded Southampton Clinical Trials unit to highlight some of the work he is doing to find new and innovative ways to improve earlier cancer detection and survival rates – work which will directly benefit islanders who are treated through the unit and Southampton Hospital.”
